## A Digital Product Design Agency for B2B SaaS

From the question of what to build to the release your engineers ship. Discovery, an MVP or a redesign, the design system underneath, and a team that stays through the build.

## What you get

Each part also runs on its own: [MVP design](/services/design-from-scratch-mvp) for a first product, [product redesign](/services/product-redesign) for a live one, [design systems](/services/design-system) for the layer underneath.

- **A decision on what to build** - Interviews, data and a written scope: what ships first, what waits, and why. Expect it to be shorter than your first list.
- **An MVP or a redesign** - A first product scoped for launch, or a live one redesigned flow by flow without breaking what works. The same team either way.
- **Flows tested before UI** - Structure, flows and prototypes put in front of users before the visual layer lands. Cheaper to change a prototype.
- **A design system underneath** - Every screen built from components, so the next feature still looks like your product. Responsive behaviour included.
- **Design that survives the build** - Engineers in the planning, specs they can build from, design QA on what ships. Planned with the people who build it.
- **A roadmap of what was cut** - We read usage after launch and write down every cut with the reason for it. You bring it back when the blocker is gone.

## From the first question to the release

Six stages, one team. If you already know what to build and need the interface done well, [UI/UX design](/services/ui-ux-design) is the narrower engagement. Most teams start with a [Trial Week](/services/trial-week) on one real problem.

1. **Discovery** — We talk to the people who own the business goal, read the data you have, and interview users or the customers you want. The aim is a short list of problems worth solving, ranked by what they cost you.
2. **Scope** — We agree in writing what gets built first and what waits. For a new product this is the MVP. For a live product it is the flows that change, the flows that stay, and the order your users move across.
3. **Flows and Prototypes** — We settle structure and flows before screens, then prototype the key paths and put them in front of users while changes are still cheap.
4. **Interface and System** — We build the interface from a component library starting with the first screen, so the next feature looks like the same product. Responsive behaviour, and dark mode where the product needs it, are part of the system.
5. **Build With Engineering** — Your engineers are part of the work from the first week, so we cut ideas the stack cannot support before anyone designs them. During the build we answer questions and check what ships against the design.
6. **After Release** — We read how people use what shipped and adjust the screens that need it. We put everything cut from the first release on the roadmap with the reason for the cut, so you can bring it back when the blocker is gone.

## Why teams build products with us

Product design fails in the gaps between the goal and the screens, and between the screens and the code. On [Alterscope](/cases/alterscope-fintech-saas-platform-redesign-masterly-case-study) we closed both in three weeks. The same component thinking runs [Omnea's site](/cases/omnea-b2b-saas-website-product-pages-webflow-case-study), and the embedded model runs [our work with Gigs](/cases/gigs-embedded-design-team-for-enterprise-sales).

- **We help decide what to build** — We start with the product question and a scope you can defend. Expect it to be shorter than the list you came in with.
- **Senior designers do the work** — Senior designers do the project. A project manager and a design lead are your day-to-day contacts and keep the work tied to your goals.
- **Decisions backed by users** — Decisions rest on interviews, analytics and prototypes people have used. Your design reviews stay about the product and its users.
- **Built for products under pressure** — Most of our clients come in with a fundraise, a launch date or an enterprise deal ahead. We plan the work to hit that date and still do the research.
- **Engineers in from day one** — We plan the work with the people who will build it, which means fewer surprises at handoff and fewer screens that look right in Figma and cannot ship.
- **A design system stays behind** — You keep a design system after we leave, so the product stays consistent as you add features and people.

## FAQ

**What do digital product design services include?**

Discovery, a written scope, user flows, prototypes tested with users, high-fidelity UI, a design system, developer handoff and support through the build. The scope decides which of these an engagement needs. A new product needs all of them; a redesign of one flow may start at the prototype.

**How is digital product design different from UI/UX design?**

UI/UX design is about how a product works and looks: flows, structure and interface. Digital product design includes that and the decisions around it: what the product is for, what gets built first, how the design system grows, and how the work gets into production with your engineers. If you already know what to build, our UI/UX design service is the closer fit.

**Can you start from an idea, or only from an existing product?**

Both. With an idea or an internal prototype, the work starts with discovery and an MVP scope. With a live product, it starts with the flows that cost you users. USDV is a product we designed from the ground up. Alterscope is the other path: a working alpha redesigned before an investor presentation.

**How long does a digital product design engagement take?**

Timeline depends on scope. A focused MVP design can be completed in 4-6 weeks. A product redesign with research typically takes 8-12 weeks. For urgent projects we have taken a product from alpha to investor-ready in three weeks (see the Alterscope case study).

**Do you work with our engineers, or do you build the product too?**

We design alongside your engineers from the first week and stay through the build. We can also build the frontend, which is a separate web development service. Backend and infrastructure stay with your team or your development partner.

**Who will actually work on our product?**

Senior product designers, sized to the scope. On Alterscope that was six designers working with the client's six engineers, their engineering lead and their product manager. Smaller scopes get a smaller team. You talk to a project manager and a design lead, who run the project with the designers.

**What does a design system have to do with product design?**

It decides whether the product stays consistent after we leave. We build screens from components starting on day one, so you get the system as part of the product work. Alterscope's design system carried the platform through more than ten protocol integrations over the following two years.

**What kinds of products do you design?**

Mostly B2B SaaS in fintech, healthtech and AI: dashboards, data-heavy platforms, admin tools, onboarding and transaction flows. Products where users decide something with money or data, and the interface has to earn their trust.

**Where should we start?**

With one real problem. A Trial Week puts our team on it for a week, and you see how we work before committing to a larger scope. If it goes well, the work continues into discovery and scope.

**What happens after the product ships?**

Some teams end the engagement at release. Others keep designers on the product every sprint, or bring in a fractional head of design one or two days a week. Our work with Alterscope is still running more than two years after the first release.
